Had a really nice brunch experience at Columbia Diner. The atmosphere was welcoming, the space itself was clean and comfortable, and the view made the whole experience even better. We ordered the fried chicken eggs Benedict and the fruit waffle, and both dishes were delicious. The eggs Benedict had great flavor and the fried chicken was crispy and well cooked. The fruit waffle was fresh, nicely presented, and not overly sweet — a perfect balance for brunch. Service was friendly and the overall vibe was relaxing and enjoyable. I got the “huevos rancheros” and it was $19 for the poorest imitation of the dish. I was too shocked to say anything, just look at it! Come on. This is insane. It was Mother’s Day, but the place wasn’t completely slammed as we got seated right away. After ordering, we waited well over a half hour to get our food. I suppose it was okay, but I wouldn’t pay more than $10 for what I got if I knew beforehand. Service was average. Also, the live music was, simply put, terrible. I ordered DoorDash from The Columbia Diner yesterday, specifically "The Notorious P.I.G. Sandwich" and "Stacks on Stacks." The "Stacks on Stacks" had berry puree in the photo but not in reality, which I was okay with since it wasn't in the description. However, the description did promise whipped cream and powdered sugar, both of which were completely missing. When I called the restaurant, a female employee told me they didn't include the whipped cream because I live 25 minutes away and it would melt. Columbia Diner is a spacious place with plenty of room and lots of tables. The food was decent for the price, nothing amazing, but acceptable overall, and the staff were pretty nice. What I really liked was the beautiful evening view of the mountains and the campus. Other than that, nothing really stood out, but it was a pleasant experience.
