Joined a four-person business dinner here. The waitress wanted to be a sommelier and it showed: she picked us a great bottle of wine, then matched a cocktail to my taste when I switched. Sofas and proper chairs, warm lighting, music plays but not loud. Exactly what you want when four people are trying to actually hear each other. We had a vegan in our group and the kitchen handled it without fuss. We ate light because the night was about the table, not the menu, but the apps and mains we shared all landed. Came in for a meeting and stayed past it. Easy yes.

I REALLY enjoy The Lodge. As always I like to visit a couple of times before posting a review. First and foremost the room at The Lodge is brilliant. The ceilings and windows are large and high but the decide (a ski lodge feel) makes it feel cozy. One of my favourite things is that the room is spacious. The tables don't feel like they are on top of each other and the room doesn't feel too loud. We were visiting, on this occasion, for my parents 60th anniversary so we had a large party. When the kitchen discovered the birthday cake we brought in was damaged in transport (unbeknownst to us), the chef didn’t skip a beat and went above and beyond to reconstruct it so that the birthday guy wouldn’t know the difference and carefully packaged it up when we had to leave for our next stop. It was a very kind and thoughtful gesture that made the day! The staff were very friendly and we had a fun time chatting with the owner. All in all, great experience and would highly recommend!

The room is the highlight. The fireplace, the high ceiling, the portraits. Beyond that it was a mediocre to poor food experience. Service was good. Appetizers, duck drummettes, elk meatballs and tuna tostadas were good. My dish was the ribs, which two of us had. They were tender but too much fat on the bone for my liking. Sauce seemed to have given me heart burn. Poorly perpared fries and under achieving coleslaw rounded it off. The plating of the meal did it no favours either. Two other people had the Mac and Cheese. The critique there was middle of the road. The opportunity to have thos
