I recently visited Shawarma Palace – Newton location, and unfortunately my experience didn’t live up to expectations. I ordered the chicken platter, and the first thing I noticed was that the chicken being served on top was already pre-cut and sitting in a tray, then reheated before being added to my plate. Because of that, the chicken didn’t taste fresh off the grill and lacked that juicy, just-carved flavor you expect from good shawarma. Mar. 12, 2026: We’ve tried 2x to go to another business in this mall only to find it closed so today we decided on here for lunch. After eating we all agreed it was a good opportunity to try something different. We didn’t order the best seller, Chicken Shawarma Platter, instead ordering: 2x Palace Poutine ($15.99) and the Chicken Shawarma Wrap (S-$10.99). We also paid $0.50 for a cup for water from the fountain drink dispenser. There are also bottled beverages in the cooler. Located in a mall. Plenty of parking.

I’ve ordered from this place through DoorDash, and honestly, it’s disappointing compared to their other locations. I’m adding photos from this Surrey branch and one from Ottawa, both cost $24, but the portion from Surrey is barely a quarter of the size. Ottawa location did include bread on the side too, but this was not the case here. The rice, chicken, garlic sauce, hummus, and veggies are all much less than what other locations serve for the same price. Really not fair for the money. The mix platter was delicious and satisfying, with generous portions and great flavor. Shabana was especially polite and welcoming, adding a warm touch to the whole experience. The rest of the staff were also helpful, and the atmosphere felt clean and comfortable. A spot worth returning to for both the food and the service.
