Without Calamini in Herten, a piece of my childhood memories would be lost. As a child, I was always thrilled when I had a few euros and could buy two or even three scoops of ice cream. It was especially nice that sometimes, if you behaved well, you even got some free syrup. You don't forget little gestures like that. The owners were always friendly and welcoming, and you always felt at home there. For me, Calamini isn't just an ice cream parlor, but also a place full of wonderful memories and nostalgia. Very honest and kind people who truly value their customers. 🍦😊

For decades, this has been the most beautiful meeting place in Herten. The family is welcoming and the ice cream is excellent. Simply different from all that industrial rubbish. I even got to see how the ice cream is still made here in the traditional way.

It was pretty clear from the "greeting" that guests weren't welcome (and there weren't any others there). I still dared to order three scoops, even though getting a menu was a challenge. What I got was ice cream riddled with chunks of frozen water and tasted anything but creamy. And this was dairy ice cream, mind you.
