I tip my hat to the team at Zur Noll's restaurant. What great attention paid to the details! From first greeting to seating, I was already made to feel welcomed and attended to. The menu had an array of meat, fish, and vegetarian options, but I ordered a standard dish to see how the kitchen does the basics. There was nothing "basic" about my Schnitzel, however. The meat was fresh, well-seasoned, and flavorful. The pommes were perfectly crisped and seasoned. The preparation of this traditional classic outshined so many other versions I've tried. Located in the old city center, it’s a very old building with all the modern facilities but still retains the atmosphere with some squeaky wooden floors, many stairways and wood pillars. Breakfast is how you would expect it to be in Germany. Parking also available.

Food/ beergarden review: A lot of food options, nice staff, but the food was not great yesterday. Maybe because it was too hot outside. The beergarden is nice. Foodwise, they adopt the food to your wishes, but traditional Thuringia dumplings were a little dry, the steak not too good and the Pilzpfanne was not tasting much like mushroom and rather a vegetable mix. Some good deserts though. We have not been to the hotel, but will probably rather try other traditional restaurants in the city than returning for the food.

We had a very pleasant stay in this traditional hotel! Friendly and efficient reception and comfortable rooms. The breakfast was good value for money with nothing missing!(except for maybe bacon - personal preference….) Friendly personnel, good location and good value for money. We will definitely be back when in Jena!
