Me and my girlfriend were staying in Cologne recently and decided to go in search of a nice place to have breakfast. We came across Café Schmitz and were so happy we did. The staff were friendly and the food was delicious. The atmosphere was nice and was a comfortable place to eat and relax.

Unfortunately, our experience at Café Schmitz was disappointing. The service felt unwelcoming from the start. Even after speaking English, the bartender continued speaking German without really trying to accommodate us, which made ordering uncomfortable and awkward as tourists. We also had to wait quite a long time for our drinks, while several customers who arrived after us were served first. The cocktails themselves were underwhelming; very weak, overly sweet, and lacking balance and quality. Overall, it did not feel very tourist-friendly, and based on our experience, I wouldn’t recommend

We had a really great breakfast at Cafe Schmitz! The staff was very friendly and the place is very quiet and peaceful. Perfect to go for late breakfast with friends on a weekend. There was a bit of a wait, but in the end the food was very nice, so completely worth the time we waited. It wasn't expensive at all taking into account that the amount of food per plate is quite big.

Food 4 | Service 5+ | Atmosphere 5 Came here because of online recommendations. The staff for sure are super friendly with nice smiles and extremely helpful. The gentleman, who served me, helped me out on the German menu. He also provided lots of recommendations Food-wise, the scramble egg with ham I ordered was hot and fresh, the bread was a bit tough (but I guess it’s German style), the salad is not the most ideal but nothing to complaint about!
