Serving food from the heart, large pots on burners fill the place with rich aromas and deep flavours. The welcome is warm and friendly (English spoken), like the food!! Loved the Mujaddara (aromatic lentils, rice, onions, spices), slow-cooked beef goulash, spicey beef balls and chicken. What lifts everything are the add-ons eg. zhoug (spicey green sauce), spiced chunky baba ganoush, pickles, carrots/garlic, roast whole chilli, salat katzuzt (onion, tomato, cucumber). Crack a cold one and get stuck in, finish with an Arak. You will want to come back!! PS: Mea She'arim is home to ultra-Orthodox Haredi/Hasidic Jews. An insular, old neighbourhood whose narrow streets, formal attire, language and customs have stepped out of 1800's Eastern Europe. It's a terrific place to respectfully walk for a visitor!!
