Just recently returned from a brilliant trip to Nepal, and one of the many highlights was my two visits to Bitters & Co. in Kathmandu. I had read the brilliant reviews about the beautifully crafted cocktails at this bar on Lazimpat Road, and had to judge for myself. I went in the afternoon and was pleasantly surprised to be served by the owner, and master mixologist, Rovin, and asked him to make me his special Old Fashioned, smoked in this beautiful Tibetan box. He was so laid back, chatty and super friendly and even agreed to my request to video him making my cocktail. This smoked Old Fashioned was genuinely one of the best I have ever tasted - well balanced and not too sickly sweet as has been my experience. Anyway, we got chatting and I already felt like family there and asked him to improvise on the fly and make me another smoked cocktail involving rum and chilli. Guess what! Had an amazing experience at Bitters & Co.! The cocktails were outstanding, definitely try Love and secrets such a vibrant drink—our night was perfect. We also tried the Crostini with hot honey dip, and it was delicious and beautifully presented.
