My first visit to Niyyali was a mixed experience, with exceptional food but inconsistent service. From the moment we arrived, the front-of-house team gave us a warm and welcoming greeting, setting a great first impression. Unfortunately, once we were seated, the service became noticeably slow. We waited quite some time before anyone came to take our drink order, and by then we had already decided on both our drinks and food. The biggest issue was with the beverages. The first drink I ordered was unavailable, and I was simply asked to choose another. Without a menu, I had to request one, only to find that my second and third choices were also apparently unavailable. The waiter repeatedly went back and forth to the manager, asking me to select another drink each time. At that point, I asked the manager directly whether the signature beverages were actually available, as the menu was becoming quite misleading. The manager handled the situation professionally. During my recent stay at the Shangri-La Hotel in Jeddah, I had the chance to try Niyyali, and the restaurant truly deserves the reputation it has built. The dishes feel familiar yet elevated, keeping the roots of Lebanese cuisine while adding refinement in presentation and flavor.
