Kafe Utu made for a really nice brunch stop. The food was solid, and the atmosphere stood out in a good way without feeling overdone. I liked that it felt relaxed and a little different from the usual café crowd. Overall, it was an easy place to enjoy a meal and I’d happily come back.

First, a big thank you to the staff, Jed, for his outstanding service! He was very professional, friendly, attentive, gave good recommendations, and made our experience a more enjoyable one! The second floor is warm and beautifully-decorated. I've not tried African food before so I don't know about the authenticity of the dishes, but the food was exotic and well-seasoned. My favourites were the grilled corn with various spices (not on the menu), and the Lamb Samosas.

Kafe Utu... what an experience. ☺️ The African playlist had us vibing from the moment we sat down, and the food? The kind that makes you do a little happy dance after every bite. Every dish was packed with flavour, and there wasn't a single one we didn't enjoy. What made it even better was the team. Everyone was so warm and welcoming. Service was on point, attentive staff. Amazing food, great vibes, beautiful space, and genuinely lovely people. Definitely one of those places that leaves you already thinking about your next visit.

Returned to this spot to give their dinner menu a try, after a wonderful lunch experience. Service staff were friendly and made us feel very welcomed. Their extensive knowledge of the menu was impressive, and they’re more than happy to answer all our questions. The food was a true reflection of African cuisine, with each dish offering a unique and exciting flavor profile. The plantains were cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of crispiness. The stews were rich and flavorful, with a perfect balance of spices. Even the Swahili fried dough, which was decent but not outstanding, was made up for by the delicious homemade soft-serve ice cream. As an African restaurant, I had high expectations for bold flavors, but what I loved was how each dish was expertly crafted to be humble, straightforward, and comforting. The drinks menu was equally impressive, with a wide selection of mocktails that were both creative and refreshing. What really stood out, however, was the attention t

Went here on a Sunday evening (no reservation) and really enjoyed it. The place was busy so we had to sit at a sharing table (not bad). Service was quick and the menu items are quite unique yet familiar (hard to explain). We really really enjoyed the food. The spices and presentation was very elegant and casual. The decor was so inviting and makes you really get into the spirit of Africa. I think the artwork / pictures were my favorite but the food was also quite amazing. The portions are not huge but big enough to enjoy it even share a few dishes if you see in a group. I think reservations would be ideal so that you don’t get disappointed but it seems possible to walk in as well. We highly recommend you go if you are open to slightly different type of food…honestly there was nothing to unique so it’s a perfect option.

First time trying African cuisine. We ordered the cauliflower appetizer which was delicious! It was a generous serving so that was great. Fried chicken was yummy as well, with one of the spiciest dips I have tried as a southeast Asian. It was awesome, never knew African cuisine had such a kick of spice in the food. Love the groundnut chicken curry, subtle hint of groundnut and not spicy at all actually. The chocolate dome was delicious as well. Fresh fruits and quality chocolate.👌 Cocktails were good as well. Prices are definitely on the higher side. Kudos to friendly staff and good food.

ig: @lifetogether97 ——————————————— have always wanted to try african style food and i absolutely jumped at the chance when a friend recommended kafe utu! the interior of the restaurant was vibey and really brought out an african theme 😆 food was delicious and had a subtle, indian infused taste to them, with quite a heavy tinge of spiciness! 🌶️ /saharan flatbread salad/ - $28 we absolutely loved the flatbread and especially the halloumi. overall we felt that this was a very well balanced dish but damn, it was pretty spicy!! 🥵 would’ve been perfect if it was much milder in spice but everything else hits the spot! /sunset cauliflower/ - $17 this was definitely the star 🌟 of the show for us. we love cauliflower and are so used to having it very chinese, xiang-xiang hunan cuisine style but the spices and flavours used in this dish was nothing short of ordinary. it kept me wanting to have more and more of it! 💦 /buttermilk fried chicken/ - $21 nearly didn’t order this as we wanted t

The food was really great! The goat curry & the pork stew was extremely delicious without feeling overly flavourful. The drinks were nice as well! We indicated that it was our anniversary and the staff gave us something special - was genuinely surprised and left feeling happy (both tummy & dining experience!)
