Firstly, a lot of people get mistaken about this place saying it’s a restaurant or expect the same tapas as others. You should not expect normal tapas here. Second, this place is legendary for 1 thing, BBQ pork rind and cheek. So if this is not your thing you can go to other bars in the area or next door. This place is legendary because it started as this small original bar and now has several bigger ones including in the main square of Merida. It’s so legendary that most times you have to wait for the BBQ pork cheek but when you get it, it washes down super well with the ice cold San Miguel

If you want the real deal, hard working, smiley staff, "typical Spanish", this is the place. Try the pestorejo tapa they give you for free after 8pm as aperitivo and just enjoy the vibe!
