We stopped for lunch at La Tarasca in Toledo, Spain, a cozy spot that serves classic Spanish flavors with a homestyle touch. Their patatas bravas come crisp on the outside and very tasty, while the huevos de corral highlight the richness of free-range eggs, cooked simply to let the quality shine. The ensaladilla rusa was creamy and light, while the blueberry cheesecake was a bit soft on the inside. We all thought service was excellent: I thought the food was good but other family members considered it average and a bit pricey.

We were in Toledo for a day trip in May. After seeing the Toledo Cathedral, we stopped here to check out the menu for lunch around 1 pm. The friendly waitress saw that we were having trouble with the Spanish menu and gave us English menus. We were the first customers for lunch but the restaurant rapidly filled up. My husband and I both ordered the menu of the day for €18. This includes 2 courses, bread, beverage, and a dessert. We both ordered a glass of red wine. The migas manchegas was decent, and the venison dishes were both odd in taste, but that may be due to my inexperience with trying venison. Either way, I would avoid the vension dish or just try some place else. The staff were kind.
