“One of the best places for authentic Tamil food in Jaffna. Portion sizes are very generous. You can barely finish eating the whole portion. And the price is worth it. It's very crowded so it can take a while to get your order.”

Tharindu★★★★Visited Akshathai on 14th April around 10 AM. The restaurant is located right in front of Nagadeepa Viharaya. The place was very busy and crowded at that time. We ordered only parata. The food was served fresh and tasted really good. Even during the peak rush, the service was acceptable and the staff managed things well. Seating was limited due to the crowd, but overall the experience was still smooth considering how busy it was. Overall, a simple and nice dining experience. A good place for a quick meal when visiting the temple.

Sameera Samarasekara★★★★★Excellent dosa place! Although not all the items listed on the menu are available, the food is very tasty 😋. The service isn’t excellent, but they don’t charge a service fee, so you can give a tip if you wish. The water isn’t hard. If you visit Jaffna, this is one of the best places for food. You can pay by card, but there’s a 3% surcharge, so it’s better to bring cash.
Mayuran Sangeetha★★★★★We visited Akshathai for lunch as a family and had their special buffet, and it was a wonderful experience! The food was delicious overall, with standout dishes like the paneer 65 and mushroom 65—both were absolutely flavorful and perfectly prepared. The restaurant is very spacious, making it comfortable to sit and enjoy your meal without feeling crowded. We also loved that the food was served on a leaf, which added a nice traditional touch to the dining experience. A special mention to our server, kishanan, who was extremely friendly, attentive, and helpful throughout our visit. Great service really made the experience even better. Highly recommended for a satisfying buffet meal—we’ll definitely be coming back!

Praveinaa Ganeshan★★Busy place and heat atmosphere. Customer service was poor. Not much delicious food. I got Ghee roast dosa and veg noodles. Dosa wasn't roasted fully - half cooked in middle and veg noodles was tasteless. Prices are comparatively normal.
chami weerasinghe★★★★★If you're after authentic Jaffna-style vegetarian food, Akshathai is a must-visit! It’s a cozy little hut that serves fresh, tasty meals at a super affordable price. We had a full meal for just 2500 LKR for five people — unbelievable value. The service is quick, and you can literally see your poori being cooked on the spot. The ghee roast was our favorite – crispy, rich, and packed with flavor. Definitely recommend for anyone craving a genuine, budget-friendly veg experience.
