Motley is hands down the best place to go in Taichung. It's a bistro and cocktail bar that just gets everything right. The drinks are incredibly creative. The owner, Tim, is from Singapore, and the menu features a lot of unique Southeast Asian flavors. They use some really cool distillation techniques, and the Pandan cocktails are an absolute must-try. You really can't find drinks like this anywhere else in the city. Usually, bar food is an afterthought, but the food at Motley is actually amazing. Whether you want a few snacks to go with your drinks or a full dinner, everything on the menu is delicious and pairs perfectly with the cocktails. The staff really makes the whole experience. Everyone is super welcoming and knows the menu inside and out. They took the time to explain the different flavors and helped us pick the perfect drinks. Had a fantastic evening at Motley. One of the cocktails that really stood out was the coffee and mushroom cocktail. It was such an ingenious flavour combination that worked beautifully - earthy, aromatic, and surprisingly balanced. Another memorable one was the pizza cocktail, which was incredibly savoury and honestly quite moreish. The whole experience was excellent from start to finish. The interior strikes a balance between classy and cozy, making it a very comfortable place to spend the evening. Service was impeccable as well, the staff were knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive. Definitely a spot I’d recommend if you’re looking for cocktails and a good night in Taichung.

We made a trip down to Taichung specifically to visit Motley and they did not disappoint. The food was so delicious, every dish hit the spot. The drinks were beyond incredible — simple yet layered. This bar is an absolute hidden gem 💎 The bartender and staff were all very friendly and warm🫶🏻 The cocktails are quite special, and they are made with local ingredients! The ambience is romantic and cosy I would also highly recommend their food!
