This pub dates back to 1896 and was originally called The Totnes Castle. In recent years, it has struggled to operate, with frequent closures. In March this year, the pub reopened after being given a new lease of life and a sympathetic makeover. This is a mid-sized, high-ceilinged, one-bar pub. Beautiful pub with a small lovely outdoors chill-out space. I've loved the decoration, bathrooms are very clean and the are dog friendly. The barbequed food was to die for, I had barbequed salmon with asparagus, sauteed potatoes and delicious sweet cherry tomatoes. The chef cooked in front of us while we had a drink outside in the lovely weather. The skin of the salmon was crispy and the tomatoes charred and delicious. I'm still thinking of the food, really good quality overall. I can't wait to come back.

Wow! What a stunning refurbishment - the new owners Suzie and Vanessa have created a gorgeous pub and private function space. We have visited a few times since they re-opened this iconic neighbourhood pub 2 weeks ago: the pints are fresh and cold, great selection of wines and cocktails, the BBQ menu is a winner, and of course, live music (jams and open mic nights)! This is definitely our new local. Congratulations to the team! ❤️
