Absolutely delicious meal on a Sunday lunchtime. First time visit, friendly and attentive service, food was great - the homemade focaccia is fantastic! New local find! Staff were welcoming and attentive from the start. Many places fail this part and leave you constantly chasing for service. Or communication breaks down between courses. Complimentary focaccia was a nice touch. To share, truffle fries, padrons with whipped feta and calamari good flavours fair starter portions. I had the prawn and lobster ravioli for main. Perfectly cooked pasta and flavourful dish. Sticky toffee date pudding with banana ice cream was gorgeous. Mate’s is great for a casual night out, however I wouldn’t say it is worth the price. The food is great on paper, but the execution not so much. We had the rib eye tagliatelle, which was overly fatty and the meat seemed like a cheap cut. We also had the lobster ravioli, which was suspiciously cold and the pasta itself a tad undercooked. The pistachio cheesecake on the other hand was 10/10. Would go back to try other dishes.
