Lovely looking cafe inside, food was nice but the girl that took our order made it feel like an inconvenience to have to be there. Twice while ordering I requested gluten free bread for my toastie but she didn’t bother to write that bit down. When the food was delivered to our table I checked again that my food was gluten free, the reply was a no. The same girl stood talking to a friend at a table while leaving dirty cups on a nearby table, the 4 potential customers at that table walked out after being ignored for over 5 minutes. Travelled 250 miles to visit this beautiful town and visited here at 10.10 this morning. Saturday 27th June 26. Approached the counter to get served. I was second in line and was totally ignored for the third in line customer. Yes!! I was noticed and unacknowledged therefore no excuses? I could have challenged the bad behaviour but I'm here for holiday and not stress. Lesson learnt? I know the hospitality industry very well and this is unacceptable?? Just found Jerome's around the corner and what a difference. Great service with a smile and professionalism. Totally on their game.

Lovely cafe. Very welcoming. Best cup of hot chocolate by far . Very hot, tasty and biscuit as well. My wife had a latte which was also very nice. Both had a scone again Very tasty and excellent value. Our second time four days later proved to be yet another 5 star visit. The hot chocolate was as good as before. This time we tried the toasted sandwiches. Lovely!

I found this lovely gem while away for the weekend, and I just had to come back for another cup of coffee before I left this morning! The staff are really lovely and the café is quiet and relaxing (but with plenty of patrons in!) I had to try the cherry bakewell cake too before I went home and it's absolutely delicious. A must if you're a coffee and cake fan!
