Beautiful food in a lovely resturant. The menu has plenty of authentic Northern and Southern Indian dishes as well as few tweaked favourites. We opteted for fish fritters to start and they were delicious then we had a grandma chicken curry and a lamb railway curry with a saffron rice and a bread. Our plates were cleaned, nothing left so for me the portion sizes are spot on but for some they may think a little small but the food is quality and if we are ever in Cardiff again we will be sure to return.

Had a "Groupon Deal", at Mattancherry, having read a number of customers reviews. Menu was not the biggest, but that's the "Groupon Deal". Our meals were good with excellent service and good value food. We shall definitely return to sample the "full menu"!

Food was subpar, starters were clearly bought in frozen and the chicken wings mays well been pigeon the lack of meat on them! Couldn’t fault the prawn mango curry absolutely divine, rice also good! Biryani was…an insult to India the lamb (far and few) was tough alongside overcooked rice. Mattancherry is the best hidden gem in Cardiff. Everytime I recommend it to people (which is a lot) I am shocked when they say that they haven't heard of it. It is a phenomenal restaurant with unbelievably tasty food, and it's a travesty that word of it hasn't yet reached every ear in South Wales. Every dish is perfectly spiced, the heat never distracting from the exquisite balance of flavours.
