Yesterday we enjoyed a lovely family Sunday lunch. We were all given a friendly welcome when we arrived which continued throughout the afternoon. The food was good and was matched by the service. It’s quite easy to see why there were a lot of regulars dining there. Would definitely recommend and hope to return one day soon.

I can't believe this is the first time I have been here. This is exceptionally good food, very personal service by the very attentive staff and once you get past the strange non-descript front door, you are transported into a huge period vaulted room with enormous oak beams supporting it. This may well be my new favourite restaurant. 10/10

The restaurant is tucked away in Great Baddow. It is a little gem. It is beautifully decorated with lovely old beams. The set lunch menu is really good value. We had two courses. I was tempted to have the three courses, but was rather full. The presentation of the food is top notch. Both the starter and the main meal were absolutely delicious. I would thoroughly recommend it to family and friends.

We came here for Christmas Day dinner and the staff were excellent 👏 attentive, friendly, and always quick to top up drinks whenever a glass was empty. The atmosphere was lovely and very much in keeping with Christmas Day, which made the service stand out even more. Unfortunately, the food was a real disappointment. From starter to dessert, the quality and portion sizes fell well below expectations. The vegetables were sliced so thin they were almost transparent, the beef was wafer-thin and nothing special, and the gravy was watery. Even the cheese board, which should be hard to get wrong, w
