Sorry, but Italy would be disappointed. The food was unfortunately very average, with quite long wait times for the main course and staff that were more interested in talking to each other at the front desk rather than clean our dirty plates. I suspect that the menu is too large and the kitchen staff struggle to keep a high quality throughout, but even the value for money was poor at times. The vegetables side dish consisted of a few bits of carrot and broccoli, absolutely not worth the cost at all. Sarah and the team have created something truly special at Sergio’s. The atmosphere is amazing, warm, stylish and full of life. From the moment you arrive, the whole team make you feel welcome, looked after and almost like part of the family. The new outdoor space is a beautiful addition too with breathtaking views of the Cathedral. Great food, great people, great atmosphere. A real Chester gem.

The lasagna was a bit too sour, but I only had one bite. The Vitello alla Milanese was generally good but it was a little bit hard, and it was attacking the roof of my mouth. The tomato spaghetti was my favourite dish of this meal and I’d recommend it.

My first visit today at Sergio’s. My fish soup was excellent but other members of our party were less impressed. Risotto was overcooked/ reheated and chicken breast was dry. Pizza was loved by all. Really friendly and attentive service
