Had a fantastic visit to The Rose and Crown in Cuckfield. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived, with friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for us. The food was excellent — fresh, well presented, and full of flavour — and the pub itself has a lovely cosy character. A perfect spot for a relaxed meal or drinks with friends and family. We recently hired the exclusive use of the Rose and Crown for a large private function, and I really can't recommend them enough! From the start James was flexible and accommodating, giving us lots of options and suggestions for how to make our night special. This included the choices of food and bespoke menu. First I will say the food we received was very good and it was a very friendly service. However the reasons for the 3 stars are, although I am aware only sample menus are shown on their website, and that some dishes are seasonal, I chose this pub as the sample Sunday menu they showed was more varied than other pubs in the area. There were mussels, trout and crab for example. My thoughts were if any were not available there would be something in its place. Cosy pub located in the heart of Cuckfield. Good quality and interesting food choices available on the menu. Staff were friendly and efficient. I opted for the chicken burger for my main which I was a little disappointed with. It felt a bit lacklustre compared to the beef burger they do. I can't be 100% sure, but felt ill shortly after eating this meal and having checked my photos the chicken may well have been still partly raw (still pink). Do be aware that they add a 10% tip to the final bill price.
