Fantastic meal booked at the last minute while visiting Dumfries. The staff were warm, welcoming, and incredibly attentive. We were able to bring our dogs and relax in the snug area, and despite being slightly underdressed, we were made to feel completely comfortable and at ease. The food was outstanding — we chose from the à la carte menu, and there were plenty of lovely extra touches included too. Considering the exceptional quality of both the food and service, it felt like fantastic value for money. The drinks were also very reasonably priced. Overall, a truly fabulous dining experience

An amazing experience to sit in the tavern built in 1610 where Robert Burns and his colleagues and friends regularly met. Parts of the pub / restaurant are perfectly preserved while the former stables has become the dining area for the relatively small 32 to 35 seat restaurant. Having a truly inspiring chef made it a perfect evening. But so easy to mess from the outside! You need to walk down a close to get to the door.

Went for first time as a special occasion for my dad’s birthday. Staff were very friendly and very attentive. Lovely setting in historical building. Menu was very varied, very well priced considering quality and certainly will get a Michelin star at some point.
