We really enjoy Ole & Steen generally and love the food selection and quality. The rewards app is great and we popped in for their £9.50 lunch offer today. As usual, the queue was out the door and didn’t move for about 20 minutes. There was one person on the till, poor considering it’s a weekend. The design of the shop means you cannot browse the selection before you order, which always means a panicked rush to select what you want. They advertise salad options on the wall menu and I’ve never been able to order this, despite trying every visit - do the salads even exist? Staff always look at

Today the coffee was very disappointing. It tasted like hot milk so this spoiled a usually good experience. The pastries and cookies were excellent although very pricey. The two stars for food is for the coffee.

O&S is my favourite bakery in town. I absolutely love the range of sourdough bread, and cinnamon social as well. One of the major reasons why I love this place is the hospitality the staff show every time I visit. They are always very friendly and welcoming, and some of them (including Naman) remember that I always ask for paper bags than plastic ones. 😊 Glad the place is doing well.

I am coeliac and therefore have to be very careful with food. Ole & Steen have the best gluten free cake Gateaux Marcel of all the coffee shops. It is such a treat and the cappuccino is very good too!!
