Lovely little restaurant with very tasty food - the lamb tagine was massive. Great cocktails too, would recommend the espresso martini. Only downside was slow service, everything took a while to come and the waiter seemed to forget about coming to the front of the restaurant. Otherwise would have been a 5 star review.

Came on a late August afternoon, weather was great and it was really nice to eat out in the open air. The food was amazing, well worth the price and the portion sizes were perfect too. The lady who served our table was lovely! Very good access, not far from the tube and across the road from the bus. Would definitely recommend!

I visited Gem Restaurant, just a short stroll from Highbury & Islington station. It’s a reasonably sized spot with a buzzing, lively atmosphere. When I went, there was a party happening in the back room, and the front area had several groups sharing dishes. I ordered the octopus salad and a lamb dish on the bone, which came with rice, apricots, and almonds. It was extremely tasty — the meat was very soft and cooked in a beautiful sauce. Stopped at Gem for dinner before a gig at Union Chapel on a Friday evening. Restaurant had a nice ambience and friendly service. A nice Middle Eastern menu and delicious food are reasonable prices. Would recommend dining here.
