I'm a regular customer here. The atmosphere here has been really tense for the past month. As soon as we enter the building, sometimes literally within a minute or two, an employee comes up to us and tells us that if we don't buy anything, we have to leave. I really love this place, especially the coffee, but this atmosphere always makes me wonder if it's worth it. The same employee, day after day, knowing we're regulars, pesters us with questions about when we'll pay. The atmosphere is zero! I’m a regular customer at this place. However, for about a month now, the atmosphere has been very tense. As soon as we walk in—sometimes literally within a minute or two—an employee comes over and tells us that if we don’t buy anything, we have to leave. I really love this place, especially the coffee, but this kind of environment makes me question whether it’s worth coming here. The same employee, day after day, even though they know we’re regulars, keeps asking when we’re going to pay. The atmosphere is completely ruined. We’re constantly reminded that we’re only welcome after we’ve paid.

Recently went into this Costa in Newbury 14.4.2025, despite not being very busy, 4 people serving, no queue, despite this they got my order wrong. It was the state of the store that shocked, tables not cleared even chairs had dirty crockery on them. My husband had to clear a table himself, and I noticed other people trying to find a table without dirty crockery. We were there about half an hour and no-one attempted to clear a table. Come on Costa get your act together.
