We recently visited The Box and honestly… what a gem of a place! From the moment we walked in, it had that perfect balance of “this is educational” and “this is actually really fun.” The kids were hooked straight away, no dragging feet, no “how long are we here for?”… just genuine interest (which, as any parent knows, is basically a miracle). The exhibits were spot on, informative without turning into a full-blown lecture. Just enough detail to learn something new without the kids glazing over halfway through. Extremely well established. Covers all the aspects of Plymouth's History. Very good 4D history video and other LCD videos. Good sculpture and well preserved marine life. Quite Fascinating for kids and adults as well. No admission fee and generally not so crowded.

Been coming here for a few years, an open and free museum is nothing to complain about. My favourite exhibit has always been the one with the mammoth and all the other animals. The changing exhibitions upstairs are hit and miss depending on what's on. Staff are always pretty helpful.
