We came here for breakfast because we were hiring a boat close by and our expectations were honestly not high. We were thinking “greasy spoon”. But, this was completely unfair as The Mess Room serves delicious filling dishes using fresh produce. The service was excellent and the team work so well together to meet all requests. I am coeliac and so can only eat gluten free food. I explained this to one of the staff and immediately understood the issue and told me what I could and could not eat from the dishes on the menu. The food was reasonably priced and well presented...they were happy to accommodate my need for protein only and I was served 4 fried eggs with mushrooms. Very friendly staff too. The only slight downside for me was that all the tables indoors were large and there were just two of us...also a succession of dog owners came in on a wet day ..which triggered my allergy.

Excellent historical place to visit, wonderful views of the river Plym and boating. Food here is good, but nothing to write home about. Fast quick service, with a large choice of breakfast cooked meals, fried were over cooked.

It used to be one of my favourite breakfast spots but its absolutely dropped off in quality. I went there today and was served undercooked Hashbrowns, we sent them back and each time they came out soft and mushy, we spoke to them twice about it and after the third time asked for a refund. The excuse was that they cook them on the flat top, if you do not have the equipment to cook them properly don't serve them it should be that simple. Left still feeling hungry and its unfortunately the last time I eat at a spot I have really enjoyed
