I recently visited Watan Restaurant Southall branch with some friends, and we had a great experience. As soon as we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the staff and quickly shown to our table. We decided to order the Afghani mixed grill platter, which is meant for around 3–4 people. After about 20 minutes, the food arrived and it was absolutely worth the wait. Watan Afghan Cuisine delivered where it mattered most: the food. From the moment we arrived, the open kitchen and remarkable display of marinated kebabs created real anticipation. The variety on show was genuinely impressive, and the visual theatre of the grill added energy and authenticity to the experience. The food itself was the highlight. Visited on a weekday with my family (group of six). The restaurant was very busy, and we had to wait quite a while to be seated. When we were finally seated, our table was not properly cleaned. Service was disappointing. When we were ready to order, no staff member came to our table. After asking a waiter for help, we were left waiting another 10 minutes before our order was taken. We thoroughly enjoyed the food - late night dinner/ Sahoor. Our entire group decided to go immediately after Iftar so that the rush hours have passed and we can enjoy the late dinner. It was a completely unrushed service. The overarching order was for the large platters and karahi alongwith some items from kids menu and drinks. Their lassi was great too. What stood out for everyone was their signature Dumpukht with no less of a taste of other items.
