We came to Toast to celebrate my son’s 19th birthday, after he successfully convinced me that spending £15 per person on toast was, in fact, a sensible life choice. I arrived slightly dubious. I left fully converted. Toast is a small, intimate space, probably no more than 40 seats, and it was buzzing when we arrived around midday. The three of us ordered different dishes and every single one was absolutely delicious. Beautifully cooked, quality ingredients, fresh flavours and clearly made with real care. Customer service was 10/10. Interacted with a couple of staff members and service was fault less. Was seated next to another group (sharing table) I suppose for a small restaurant it might be required. Alternative could be have smaller tables and link / detach as required. Private conversations, difficult. Eavesdropping very easy! Side of bread was hard to cut, sharper knives required or softer breads. Our drinks (esp. hot chocolate) was not very hot. Nestled on a side road between Boots and M&S is this lovely brunch place with sun facing windows in a light inviting area. Paid parking is nearby and easy access on foot from the main High Street. Menu has lots of choices from meat eaters to vegan options. As soon as I saw the menu, I knew I had to choose the Hot Honey Halloumi. Delicious crispy chilli honey halloumi, smashed avo, green harissa, poached egg, red chili served on sourdough toast. I chose Orange juice as my drink choice. Another great find, as I wondered through the streets of St. Albans.

Visited Toast this morning with 3 friends. Food was amazing, menu had great variety. Lovely coffee too. Value for money. Great atmosphere. Friendly staff, shoutout Stevie and Sofia. Will be back :)
