It was mine and my little girls first time in the Nelson and I was so impressed the staff on arrival where so friendly, the prices are very reasonable, the food well I haven’t enjoyed a meal as much as I did that in a long time I had a steak toastie with caramelised onion chutney with chips and onion rings and unbelievable quality. They had toys for my little girl to play with they couldn’t do enough for us. Would highly recommend and definitely come back again. Thanks to all the staff at the Nelson x

Nice venue but under patronised. Food prices very low for decent, if unauthentic, meals. For example breadcrum coated chicken breast strips on chips with rice and chipshop curry sauce is not really katsu but it was really enjoyable. The fish and chips were good though. Sadly the berry sundae had hard frozen berries in it and coffee made at the coffee machine was some type of instant coffee made with hotwater from the machine rather than from roasted beans being scalded. Good value over all though and nice staff.

Stopped by for lunch and sat outside with our dog on what was a great sunny breezy May day. Ordered a 2x1 burger promotion, each with fries and a side of onion rings. Service was great, food was fresh, tasty, and well presented. The ambience was wonderful: the staff welcoming and diligent, good music, yum food, cold beers, what else can you ask for? We’ll be going back before we leave town, we’re just passing through.

We visited The Nelson yesterday with my nephew and my two-year-old daughter and had a really lovely experience from start to finish. The beer selection was very good, the food was excellent and really good value, but what stood out most was the service. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and welcoming throughout. They went above and beyond by bringing toys over for my daughter to play with, which made such a difference and was genuinely thoughtful. It is also very family-friendly, with a fully stocked changing facility, which is always appreciated when eating out with a young child.
