We had lunch at the Barge Inn on Bank holiday Monday. I booked in advance and paid £10 deposit (£5 per person) which judging by how busy Battlesbridge gets I can understand why this venue does this. We had the charcuterie platter starter which whilst very generous with the hummus (a first for me on a charcuterie board) very light on the actual meat. And pre sliced cheese was a let down. I had the sausage and mash main course and the sausages were outstanding absolutely delicious but the mash was way too salty. The staff were friendly and we really loved the historical venue. We visited Friday 10th of April around midday as a family for my dad’s birthday and arrived during a busy period without a booking. We were seated relatively quickly, which we appreciated. But we were not told of any significant wait time on the food which would’ve been expected from any restaurant or pub.
