Had lunch with a friend. The food was good, but not really anything special. I did really enjoy the flavor of the mushroom 🍄‍🟫 taco, but the iceberg lettuce wedge it was on made it very hard to eat. I was expecting a butter lettuce cup or some larger leaf lettuce that made it easy to eat. The carnitas was good, nothing special, little greasy, no caramelized or crispy bits. They don’t offer any fresh salsas with the tacos. Only 2 bottles sauces. Margarita was OK. The booth we were seated in desperately needs reupholstering. Atmosphere a bit dark. Service was friendly.

Don Taco in Alexandria is hands down my favorite Mexican restaurant since moving to the DMV area! The customer service is top-notch, and Daniella, our server, was incredibly warm, friendly, and welcoming. What really stands out is the teamwork. You can tell the staff genuinely enjoy what they do. Even when it’s not their assigned table, team members consistently check in on guests, refill drinks, and make sure everyone is having a great experience. It’s refreshing to see a restaurant where everyone pitches in to create such an outstanding dining atmosphere. A special shoutout to the manager

I don’t make it out to Alexandria too often, but since it was a halfway point between a friend and me, it worked out perfectly. We chose Don Taco—because really, you can’t go wrong with chips, salsa, and drinks for a quick happy hour. The salsa had a great smoky kick, and the empanada I ordered was flavorful and satisfying. My friend’s taco looked solid too. Overall, it made for a great evening! We ended up staying for almost two hours. If the weather’s nice, I highly recommend grabbing a table outside.
