This place is incredibly underrated just based on the execution of the atmosphere and interior design. McMenamins took over Bothell High School a number of years ago and converted it into a unique resort experience. This particular restaurant is located above the old Bothell High swimming pool. Decorated in authentic Polynesian statuary and knick knacks, lit with low amber colored lighting, the interior is both cavernous and relaxing. The drink menu design is correctly kitschy and vintagey. This is a great place to come for a private meetup, even a business meeting if discretion is a must. M

Great atmosphere, but that's the only thing I can compliment. The service here appears to be hit or miss. I rolled the dice poorly and ended up sitting for 40 minutes with nobody offering to take my food order (despite asking me if I wanted to order food and providing a menu) or check up on me even to refill my water. I only had one drink (fashionably tiki) and found it weak and overly sweet. Can't recommend this place. If you're in the greater Seattle area looking for a tiki bar experience there are many better options out there.

McMenamins Anderson School is such an interesting place. Used to be a school and now transformed to a hotel with a variety of restaurants and bars, one of them having a big indoor swimming pool. We chose to visit the swimming pool building which also is home to Nui Nui, a Polynesian inspired restaurant. For our lunch visit, we had three entrees (see pics) that are worth ordering. Definitely will be back to try other fare and their Polynesian inspired cocktails, or even the other restaurants/bars at this McMenamins complex.
