We had dinner at Rustic Chophouse in Broken Arrow. We started with the crab cakes and lobster bisque, and both were good. They swear that there is no spice in the bisque but the tingle on my tongue says otherwise. It’s funny, we didn’t even ask about it, she just walked by and mentioned it. Not a big menu but they do what they do well. It was recommended by a friend. I got a Wedge salad, a New York strip with bone marrow butter, and Mac and cheese. I had never had bone marrow butter before. It was delicious but rich. The Mac and cheese through me off by appearance, but it was fine. Also very rich. I think the server was afraid I didn't like the food because I ate so slow. But it was so rich I had to pause a lot when eating. The atmosphere at Rustic Chop is nice, but the food was average at best. We started with three soups and the crab cake appetizer, which were all great. Unfortunately, the experience fell apart during the main course. I ordered the dry-aged strip steak, but it arrived grey and overcooked. My wife and son shared the pork, which was decent. Our middle son ordered the lamb—it tasted fine, but the portion was tiny. His wife’s chicken pasta was terrible.
