Visited Udupi Cafe a couple of nights ago, because my dear friend enjoys their food and recommended that we go together. She’s Indian and doesn’t like many Indian restaurants in the U.S., so when she raved about Udupi, I knew that it would be good! I love vegetarian Indian food, so I was excited about our visit! Their Gobi Manchurian was so flavorful and tasty it made me think, “cauliflower can be as FULFILLING and SATISFYING as chicken?” Because that’s what my taste buds signaled to me, which I say as a full compliment. Very delicious. We come very often and it never disappoints. Always warm and flavorful. I personally love the dosa which was warm and crispy. We got the gajar halwa, it was warm and comforting. My daughter took a bite so that’s why the picture looks like that. No wait time and the food arrived very quickly, 8-15 minutes

I have been going to Udupi since the early 2000’s and it’s where my husband has learned to love Indian food. It has morphed over the years going from buffet to à la cart during Covid years. It has been my go to Indian restaurant and the bar to which I hold other Indian restaurants. Chandra and his staff are amazing. Always a laugh, always something fun to explore, always ready to share different foods and the Udupi culture. The South Indian Thali is a must if you want to explore many flavors - sweet, salty, bitter, spicy, and sour in a single dish.

Hyandavi Boppana★

Placed an order of medhu vada and potato bonda from this restaurant and had the worst experience ever. The coconut chutney had lots of water and vada’s are not fresh too. Same conditon with sambar as well. Potato bonda was too oily and potatoes inside were not cooked properly. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.
