Sam's is a no frills, old-school diner. Watching Sam man the grill is therapy for your soul. The staff (whom I assume is family or has been around him as long enough to be considered family) dance around him like a perfectly choreographed ballet. The food is exactly what you would expect from a short order diner: real, made quick, with a little touch of flavor from a cooktop that's been working overtime for nearly 40 years. This is a great place to have a tasty & economical breakfast. I’d visit anytime I was in Champaign. Service was quick & efficient. Meals were a perfect portion size & made fresh to order. It was easy to park on the street, we visited on the weekend & didn’t have to feed the meters. Nothing fancy, but perfect for a great breakfast. Cash only, so take note before you visit.

Excellent breakfast spot, the prices are very fair and the food is great! The French toast was the highlight of the visit - the toast is cooked with a batter and dusted sugar. Truly amazing. The biscuits and gravy were good but the hash browns were a bit oily. Everything was great overall. Note that the establishment only accepts cash. Definitely plan to be back!
