As a top Google Local Guide, I’m always on the lookout for unique places to explore with my husband. When we walked into The Asbury, the breakfast rush had just ended and we had missed the chef—but we met Tim, who graciously offered to make whatever we wanted. Now that’s hospitality! We went here for the pre-Wicked menu.The service was excellent, but the food was disappointing. The online menu said beef tenderloin would be served, but we received a very fatty bland strip steak. The fat was not rendered properly. The meat was cold, unseasoned, and not seared. It tasted like it had been steamed. The vegetables were okay. The shrimp appetizer tasted like it was made with frozen shrimp. The lemon meringue pie was lackluster and soggy. I would not recommend this restaurant. They did have a wine bottle special and validated parking. The food was very overpriced for poor quality.

Our family of five (3 kids under age 7) visited The Asbury on 5/23 around 10am after seeing the strong Google reviews and wanting something better than the continental waffle breakfast at our hotel nearby. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the start. Our hostess/server felt extremely awkward and inexperienced. She seemed confused when we asked her not to pour the giant goblets of water for our young children, and also seemed puzzled when I ordered a Coke instead of drinking the water she had already poured. As a native of Charlotte I am absolutely ashamed that I have not been here before. I probably had the best burger ever in my life. Service was great, ambience amazing and everything very clean. Only thing that could make this experience better is if they had live jazz in the lobby of the hotel. I will definitely be back.
