Had a great experience at cacique. The salsa and chips were terrific - the salsa was unique - a smooth blend with light tomato. My chicken dish was as tasty as the picture looks. We had been to this resturant years ago and were looking forward to going back since the renovations. Before we went to see the lighted boats tonight we got to stop in. The hostess seemed annoyed we had not made reservations and was not very friendly, but the rest of our experience was very good. The food was as good as we remembered. We had the cheese enchiladas, chicken tacos, and seafood soup. We also got our daughter a kids chicken quesadilla with black beans. So I recommended Cacique to my sister and brother-in-law to have lunch here because my husband and I enjoyed eating here, obviously because the food is delicious, except for their house salsa/dip for chips. But today was totally different! I ordered the duck that comes with Mexican rice and vegetables. The duck was salty, my rice tasted like old and expired rice and wasn't even fully cooked. It felt like old oil was used to cook it. My brother-in-law didn’t finish his food. He ordered a chimichanga and only had maybe 1/4 of it. He couldn’t stand it. Really enjoyed the visit. Our party enjoyed one chicken fajita and one shrimp fajita remarking they were the best they had ever had. The combination Saltado was very tasty spiced well, personally I would have loved some hot jalapeños added. The only downside was we were seated near the kitchen entrance on an evening when there were plenty of other tables in quiet areas. Too noisy with the doors open to the kitchen. We will return but be certain to ask for a better table.
