I think I ate at Golden Rule the week it opened years ago but I never went back. No specific reason, I just prefer going out in Austin when I’m in town. But I’ve recently been back on several occasions. It’s 5 stars for atmosphere. The ambiance couldn’t be better. Really cute place, great bar, very inviting. The food is more like 4 stars. Seems to be inconsistent. Sometimes too salty. Recently raised their prices on the entrees which I believe to be way too much for what it is. Very spacious. They offer outdoor seating, a lot of indoor seating as well. They also have a bar section. Celebrating a birthday, large group, we came for drinks and appetizers.

Got sat outside with my family. Waited over 30 minutes for a server to even greet us after checking with the hostess. Poor interaction with the server and no apology for the wait and very few other customers outside. Food and drinks are not worth the wait with no explanation or interaction. This place gets 5 stars for the service alone. We went in tonight to celebrate my niece and nephews birthday. We were a bigger, slightly chaotic group. My grandmother is incredibly picky about her food. Our server was beyond amazing. I wish I had caught the young lady's name so she could truly get the recognition she deserves. As soon as we mentioned grandma was sensitive to seasonings she made sure to go over everything specifically.
