After a long day hiking through Pinnacles National Park, walking into Paine’s Restaurant felt like accidentally stepping through a portal into another era, one where people dressed for dinner and nobody was eating fries out of a paper bag in their car. White tablecloths, cozy booths, elegant decor, smooth music floating in the background… the whole place has classic old-school steakhouse energy in the best possible way. The bar area was already lively when we arrived around 4:50 p.m., and little by little the dining room filled up too. For a small town, this place was humming. Always a reass

This place is very classy, with an upscale clientele and great menu selections. Our party of 6 had chicken, beef and pasta dishes - and all were dee-lish! Be sure to order the flaming cheese appetizer. They light it up and flambeau it at your table (NOTE: Though the name of this appetizer sounds Japanese fosho... It's actually a Greek cheese name... 🔥 😋. When you scan the appetizer list, you'll see what I mean...) Pricing is on the higher end, but well worth a visit on a special night out. Street and lot parking are available. Highly recommend!

Great food. Was very pleasantly surprised. The sirloin steak was cooked perfectly and the wait staff attentive without hovering. Dinner for 2 about $100 but worth it.
