I grew up outside of Boston where they have "steak and cheese" sandwiches that I miss. I ate at the Hoagie Hutt in Highwood (RIP) far too often throughout undergrad. I have been to Philly and had the finest cheesesteaks (even the Pat's at the airport is good). Monti's wasn't it. Did not live up to the hype. Everything was .... just meh. Not bad, but certainly nowhere close to the best I have had. No real flavor in the beef. Lack of seasoning. No gooey cheese pull on the traditional. Did not scratch the itch. Wings? I think would have been better with a different sauce. Buffalo wasn't

Monti’s is the real deal. We ordered the South Side Johnny and the Authentic Philly Cheesesteak with aged cheddar cheese sauce, and both were incredible. The steak was flavorful and perfectly chopped, the bread was soft with just the right bite, and the cheddar sauce was next level. It’s honestly the closest thing I’ve had to a true Philly cheesesteak outside of Philadelphia. If you’re in Chicago and craving an authentic cheesesteak, this is the spot—nothing else really compares. Definitely coming back again.

I had heard Monti's was the best place to get a Philly in Chicago, and since I've been craving one lately, I had to give it a try. I can honestly say it's the best Philly I've had in Chicago and the surrounding areas. It definitely did not disappoint. I ordered mine with extra mayo and white American cheese, and it was absolutely delicious. The staff was friendly, the service was great, and the whole experience lived up to the hype. I highly recommend giving Monti's a try if you're looking for an authentic Philly cheesesteak!

Probably the best Philly cheesesteak you can get in Chicago. Pure hedonism in sandwich form. Thinly shaved, nicely caramelized beef loaded with melty cheese and stuffed into a soft roll that somehow held everything together. Their bread, flown in straight from Philadelphia 3 times a week, deserves a shout-out with its signature chew and thin, lightly crisp crust.
