Today we stopped by Spanky’s for lunch after freshman orientation at Texas Tech, and it did not disappoint! We wanted to support a local restaurant instead of a chain, and Spanky’s was the perfect choice. Everyone told us we had to try the Famous Fried Cheese, and they were absolutely right—it was amazing! First time goer. Was told by a family member that the cheese sticks were insanely delicious and the burgers were amazing. They did not disappoint! Quite the size of a burger and the Hot sauce on the Hot as Hell Burger was solid heat 🥵! Parking is kinda rough but worth it if you park and just walk.

Had a friend that is local to the area suggest this restaurant to us. We came in the summer so when it was less crowded. Upstairs was closed unfortunately cause we would have liked to see the legendary college history. The food was very good. We ordered the famous cheese sticks, a burger, grilled cheese (with and without bacon) and chicken strips with fries. All were solid choices. Warning: the cheese sticks are colossal, they come in an order of 3 or 6. I am from the Midwest and these rival anything I have had from the land of dairy. Not from around town, decided to try this place out with some co-workers. Upon entry of the establishment, there was good music playing. It wasn’t too busy as we went around 11am. Service was rather quick at that time. Our food came out rather quickly. Upon receiving, I had ordered a burger and fries. The burger was rather bigger than I thought it would be. There was excellent flavor. The fries didn’t have any seasoning, not sure if that how it is or if we have to ask. We also got their huge mozzarella sticks! Those were the bomb!!
