So, I am not from this area, so it may be a bit out of the way, or not. Anyways, the food and atmosphere were not was I was expecting, but I very pleased with both. They honor any and all military and first responders, and the entire restaurant is covered with pictures and memorabilia to match. I ordered the Garbage Omelette with hash browns and the pancakes. The omelette was delicious, the hash browns were made the way I like them (extra crispy) and the pancakes were delicious. I stopped into Kim & Patty’s Restaurant in McHenry this morning, and it instantly felt like one of those places that’s built on real community. I had an excellent conversation with Kim herself — genuine, welcoming, and clearly proud of what they’ve created here. You can feel her presence in the room. The entire restaurant is decked out with military respect, and not in a decorative way — in a meaningful way. Photos, flags, and tributes that honor service members with sincerity. Amazing atmosphere for veterans and first responders. Welcoming staff and welcoming environment. The inside is awesome and pays homage to every branch of the military along with first responders. If you are neither a veteran or a first responder I would still recommend this cafe. 10/10!!
