We sat on the Old Bar side of the restaurant and really liked the vibe. Booth seating plus lots of seats at the long bar. Food was just okay. Somewhere between 3 to 4 stars. We had the Chicken Fried Steak breakfast and a French Dip. The steak was good. The gravy was just OK. I didn’t care for the ultra thin shredded potatoes in the hash browns. Eggs were cooked perfectly. The French Dip tasted like grilled thin sliced ham - not beef. I didn’t care for it and can’t recommend it. The au jus was tasty. I've always gotten good food here but the Philly Cheesesteak - French Dip sandwich, is extra good! Just make sure they give you STRONG au jus with your sandwich. If it's watery, it defeats the whole experience.

I stopped in here while sightseeing around Portland and Milwaukie in 2017, and really dug the atmosphere. I was the only customer in the place, and was fairly hungry after walking around Portland, and wanted something that'd stick to my ribs. I was not disappointed. I ordered some chowder, the clams, and a cobbler and left stuffed. The food itself was good. If you are expecting a gourmet meal, go somewhere else. This is simple diner/bar fare and it did what it did well. I don't know the deep lore of Milwaukie, but given the decor, I could tell Libbie's had been around feeding the commu
