We're back in Providence to celebrate my wife's birthday and decided to start the weekend fun with a dinner at Mare Rooftop. Mare is described as a Mediterranean-inspired seafood restaurant. It's about a 7 minute drive from downtown Providence with upscale vibes. After riding the elevator up to the restaurant, we checked in with the hostess and were escorted to our table. What a fantastic venue. We booked the Mare Rooftop for a 50th birthday celebration. Not only was the semi- private space the perfect way to surprise our guest of honor, but it comfortably accommodated a party of 25. Simplistic but elegantly decorated. And the food was incredible - everyone complimented their dishes - sirloin cooked to perfection, pan seared chicken, and a salmon to die for. A delectable selection of desserts, too! It has a beautiful ambiance and an amazing rooftop view, especially at sunset. The drinks and vibes are great, but the food can be overpriced for the quality, and the service was quite slow. Even with only a few customers, two plates took more than 45 minutes. The chicken was flavorless and disappointing. However, when we mentioned it, the staff kindly changed the plate to a chicken Caesar salad, which was appreciated, although it still took more than 25 minutes to arrive. I’d recommend this place more for drinks, the view, and the atmosphere.
