I was genuinely excited to return to The Sidewalk Cafe for brunch yesterday after not having been in well over 15 years. We arrived early, were the first table seated, and were really looking forward to the experience. Unfortunately, both dishes came out with undercooked eggs to the point that the plates were soggy and “egg wet.” My friend had even specifically confirmed “medium” with the staff beforehand, so I politely asked our server whether this was perhaps a misunderstanding with the order or if my dish was intended to be prepared this way. Sidewalk Cafe is hands down the best breakfast in Richmond, Virginia and easily my favorite brunch spot in the city. The vibe is always great and the whole place just feels welcoming and fun. Mad props to the staff. They are always friendly, attentive, and keep the place running smoothly even when it’s busy. You can tell they really care about the customers and the experience.
