Matthews Cafeteria is a lunch spot that has stood the test of time. It’s a classic cafeteria experience, with a similar ordering style to what you would find at a school cafeteria but offering a wide assortment of Southern food. Lots of parking and lots of seating here, you shouldn’t have trouble finding space for a big group here. The space definitely gives a historic vibe, it feels like things haven’t changed here for 50 years and that’s a good thing in this case, If it works, it works. 🍋 Lemonade not sweet enough but I still enjoyed it. Potato 🥔 salad was real good. 🐔 Chicken tenders needed more seasoning but I still liked it. I couldn't pin point what was in the 🍚 brown rice. Mash potato 🥔 and gravy was ok. I like the sticks of green onion. The cranberry sauce was nicely sweet 😋

Had a great time here! Everything was delicious and the portions were really generous. Definitely with recommend the Mac and cheese, Salisbury steak, and turnip greens!! The lemon meringue pie was delicious as well. I’ll be back to try the strawberry shortcake for sure.

There is a reason why the have been in business 70+ years! Visited for my first time tonight and the food was really good. The staff was friendly and kind. A great experience! Loved the fried chicken, and the peach cobbler, and the stuffing! The sweet tea was spot-on! Perfect! Not too sweet, just the right amount! Definitely coming back with the family.
