We have been to this place a few times but have noticed that the patio service is severely lacking compared to when we are seated inside. When someone in our group ordered a tonic water, they got club soda. We had to wait a while for refills and some people in our group didn’t have drinks with their food because no one came by. We visited this month with all of the Christmas decorations up and it was admittedly very impressive. The place was packed with parties but there was room at the bar for two. We shared the brussels, chicken sandwich and fries, as well as the cornbread cake. The food was cooked well, if not a little salty, but that’s right up my alley. The menu had some creative additions here and there which helps differentiate this space from some of the other local restaurants. Either/Or on Grand Ave has quickly become one of my favorite spots in Des Moines, and our most recent visit reminded me exactly why. Our server Maya was fantastic. Attentive and genuinely on top of things from start to finish. She’s the kind of server who makes the whole experience feel effortless. Now let’s talk food. The chips, salsa, and queso were the perfect way to kick things off. Tasty and satisfying without being heavy. The salad was fresh and well-executed. And the burger? Outstanding. This place brings something intentional to the Des Moines dining scene. Great food. Great service
