My husband and I are from out of town and we’re visiting for a business trip. I found The Charles on instagram and very delighted by our dinner here. We started with the beet salad and side of local mushrooms with bread for our appetizers. My husband had the Berkshire Pork Chop which was delicious and perfectly cooked. The side of potatoes and Brussels sprouts were very tasty as well. I had the Chicken & Dumplings (gnocchi) which was delicious. I LOVED the lemon butter mustard sauce! This must be one of the most frustrating dining experiences I have ever had. A 5-star restaurant limited to 2. For starters, I had to park a 4 minute walk away, on a wet, rainy night. The parking is very limited. We were greeted and sat immediately, for our reservation. The ambiance is lovely. Charming country, fireplace. Nice decorative appointments throughout. We came in here for a late weekday lunch. It was the best meal in Wethersfield. We had a hard time deciding what to order off the menu as everything looks so appetizing and the dishes on other people's tables all look delicious too. We ended up ordering the Fish 'n Chips and the Butternut squash orecchiette pasta dish. Portions sizes were large and the food was delicious. The breaded fish was so light and flakey.
