A French bistrot that has made itself a community institution, Bistrot So occupies a fantastic corner, there is almost no better place to take in the neighborhood while enjoying a meal, anytime of year. The menu classics like the steak au poivre will keep you coming back, and still there are always seasonal specials: beef bourguignon, raclette, duck. The staff is beloved by the neighborhood, so between the atmosphere and food, be prepared to enjoy yourself.

My wife and I first came here about 10 years ago on one of our early dates. We came back to celebrate our 9-year wedding anniversary and were excited to revisit a place that meant something to us. We made a reservation and noted the occasion, but the experience didn’t match expectations. There was an event happening, but the restaurant wasn’t busy. Even so, both the food and service were slower than they should have been. The steak tartare, which I was really looking forward to, lacked flavor and was disappointing. The charcuterie board was very good, and the bottle of wine was enjoyable. W
